Cross River is one of six hamlets in the Town of Lewisboro. Lewisboro is nestled in the hills of northeastern Westchester County approximately 46 miles from NYC. The town offers convenient access to I-684, the Merritt and Saw Mill River Parkways. Express trains from Goldens Bridge, Katonah and New Canaan to NYC average 55 minutes. Once rural farm land, Lewisboro was first settled in 1731 as the Town of Salem and later became the Town of Lewisboro. Today, although the many miles of the farmers' stone walls are still evident, criss-crossing over fields and through the woodlands, the town has grown to a population of approximately 14,000. Highlights of Cross River include the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Cross River Reservoir, John Jay Middle and High Schools, Yellow Monkey Village, The Meadows condominium complex and Cross River shopping center.

Educational Facilities
The Town of Lewisboro's six hamlets are served by the renowned Katonah-Lewisboro school system; the four elementary schools are Katonah, Increase Miller, Lewisboro, and Meadow Pond; the John Jay Middle School and John Jay High School. In addition, there are many private and parochial schools which also serve the area.

Recreational Facilities
While Lewisboro has grown a great deal, the overall impression is still one of scenic country roads lined by woodlands or open fields and meadows. Unique to the town are the many lakes which dot its landscape. They include Lake Katonah, Lake Waccabuc, Lake Oscaleta, Lake Rippowam, Truesdale Lake and Lake Kitchawan. In addition to many nature preserves, the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation's 4000 acres offer miles of hiking, riding and cross country skiing trails. Among the three town parks (Lewisboro Town Park, Fox Valley and Onatru Farm Park), there are ball fields, tennis courts and a pool complex.

Houses of Worship
The Town of Lewisboro area includes the Cross River Baptist Church, Episcopal Chapels of St Paul and St. John, Jewish Family Congregation, Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, South Salem Presbyterian Church, St. Mary of Assumption Roman Catholic Church, St. Michael's Roman Catholic Chapel and Stevens Memorial United Methodist Church.
